Privacy Policy

Who we are

Phoebe Understandings is an iPhone app made by Phoebe Markets LLC, a Texas limited liability company ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Phoebe Understandings app only. Phoebe, our investing app, and the waitlist on this website are covered by the Phoebe privacy policy.

The short version

Phoebe Understandings does not collect any data about you. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. What you do in the app stays on your iPhone, and we never see it.

Data not collected

• No account. There is no sign-in, and the app never asks for your name or email address.
• No analytics. The app does not measure how you use it or send usage data anywhere.
• No advertising or tracking. There are no ads, the app does not use your device's advertising identifier, and nothing follows you across other apps or websites.
• No third-party SDKs that collect data. The app's one third-party library is the open-source Rive runtime, which draws the illustrations from files built into the app. It collects and sends nothing.
• No connection of its own. The readings are built into the app, so it works offline. The app never connects to us or to anyone else. The only things that leave your iPhone are an email you choose to send and a web page you choose to open, both described below.

What stays on your iPhone

So you can pick up where you left off, the app keeps these in its own storage on your iPhone:

• Your progress: the readings you've finished and where you stopped
• Your answers, your review cards and your Track check results
• Your saved insight cards
• Your streak, and how many minutes you read each day
• Your answers to the welcome questions, and your settings: daily goal, reminder time and haptics

None of it is sent to us or to anyone else.

Settings › Reset Progress deletes your progress, answers, review cards, saved cards, streak and Track check results. Your settings stay. Deleting the app deletes all of it, settings included.

If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or to a computer, iOS includes the app's storage in that backup, as it does for other apps. That backup is yours, under Apple's terms, and we cannot read it.

Reminders

The daily reminder is off until you turn it on. It is a local notification: iOS schedules it on your iPhone at the time you choose, with no server involved. iOS asks your permission the first time you turn it on. Turn it off in the app's Settings, or in iPhone Settings › Notifications › Phoebe U.

Reporting a problem

In a reading, Report a Problem (in the ⋯ menu) opens a new email from your own mail account, addressed to support@phoebemarkets.com. To help us find the screen, it fills in the reading, the screen, the app version and your iOS version. You see all of it before anything is sent: change or delete whatever you like, and nothing goes unless you tap Send. If your iPhone isn't set up for Mail, the app shows our address with a Copy button instead.

If you write to us, we receive what you send, including your email address, and use it only to reply and to fix the problem. Ask, and we will delete your messages.

Links and sharing

Tapping a source opens that web page in your browser; the site you visit has its own privacy policy. Sharing a saved card uses the iOS share sheet, and you choose where it goes. The app receives nothing back from either.

Apple

Apple distributes the app through the App Store under Apple's own privacy policy. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers (iPhone Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements), Apple may share crash reports and usage statistics with us. Those come from Apple, not from the app, do not identify you, and can be turned off there.

Children

Phoebe Understandings is not directed at children under 13. It collects no personal information from anyone, children included.

Changes

If this policy changes, we will post the new version on this page with a new effective date. If a future version of the app would collect any data, we will update this policy before that version is released, and say so in the app.
